Clínica Peñaranda also serves as a space for professional training. Physicians specializing in ophthalmology, as well as students of optometry, nursing, and nursing assistance, have the opportunity to complete their professional internships with us—strengthening their knowledge and gaining experience that enriches their training. Currently, physicians pursuing a specialization in ophthalmology at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá and Clínica Carriazo in Barranquilla are completing clinical rotations at our facility as part of their professional training, joining our care team and participating in the care processes for our patients.
Furthermore, we host optometry students from the Universidad de La Salle, Universidad El Bosque, and Universidad Andina in Bogotá, as well as from the Universidad Santo Tomás in Bucaramanga, all of whom complete a portion of their professional training at our facilities. Throughout this process, they gain access to specialized technology and clinical settings that allow them to strengthen their competencies and acquire experience for their future professional practice.
We also provide training opportunities for nursing students and nursing assistants from the Universidad Francisco de Paula Santander (UFPS), the Universidad de Santander (UDES), and the Universidad Simón Bolívar.
At the clinic, they can gain knowledge and experience in fields such as ophthalmology, otolaryngology (ENT), orthopedics, and other specialties, thanks to the diverse range of services we offer and the procedures performed in our operating rooms and inpatient units by medical specialists from the region. In this way, we contribute to the training of new healthcare professionals by providing them with real-world learning environments, access to specialized technology, and the opportunity to develop their skills alongside highly experienced professionals.
